the imprint of trauma

graphic designer, fashion designer

a collection of apparel based on a book about mental health and trauma.

the imprint of trauma is clothing line inspired by the book "the body keeps the score" by bessel van der kolk m.d. which details how trauma, pain, and the stresses of life leave lasting imprints on us all. it outlines how trauma can affect your mental health, body, and outlook. this collection takes key details and psychology studies from that book, and relates them to my own experiences and modern-day society.

this project was a learning curve in itself as it was the first clothing line i had ever created. i focused on typography, imagery and texture, scale, and legibility. the main concern i ran into was designing clothing that could actually be replicated and produced easily. apparel lays differently than normal digital or print work does, so it was important to make sure the designs were legible—of intentionally non-legible. in total, the collection is comprised of 8 pieces, including shirts, sweats, socks and a beanie.

the work included: graphic design, fashion design, social assets, and content writing.
