post-nar campaign concepts

several interactive or outside-the-box direct mailer concepts for a larger campaign.
these direct mailer were a part of a larger campaign created to highlight the perks of homes.com and its 1:1 connection with its homebuyers. the goal of these concepts were to create innovative and outside-the-box mailers that people would be thrilled to receive. several of the concepts were produced, but all three of the mailers shown here were never produced and remain only as concepts, and therefore are not final.
the first piece is deemed the “homes vision”, which was inspired by the 3d glasses you wear at the movie theater. this mailer consists of two pieces, the first being the designed paper mailer and the second being the red decoder lens. the idea is that one would see an overwhelming amount of messages when viewing the mailer without the decoder lens, representing the competitors. once you lay the decoder on top, it would reveal a singular message, representing homes.com’s 1:1 connections. this mailer was exciting to design as it allowed me to think outside-the-box and pushed the boundaries of what is a normal mailer design.
the second mailer is a sound card that follows a similar concept, emphasizing the 1:1 connection homes.com supports when you hit the “send a message” button. i found this design to be both exciting and challenging for several reasons—it was challenging to mock-up a design that would clearly articulate the vision i had. on the other hand, it was exciting to get creative with this mailer and experiment with the watercolor nature. since this mock-up was still in concept phase, the idea is that the audio would be several voices overlapping one another, each discussing different house locations and realtors.
the final piece is called the “open door”, which consisted of 3 door illustrations, each with a flap that, when opened, would reveal hidden information. the idea behind this piece was complex yet quite simple—homes.com is based around homes for sale, and very often people only speak the true behind closed doors—both of those facts led me to the idea of putting hidden information behind doors. the biggest challenge with this design was determining the exact illustration style for the doors, which took some trial and error before landing on the final one.
the work included: graphic design, print design, & final mock-ups
note: this project was produced at homes.com, and is the sole property of homes.com.
